D'Oyly Carte Island was the weekend retreat where the celebrities of the time who came for lavish parties attended by the likes on Oscar Wild, Lady Jeanette (‘Jennie”) Churchill (mother of Winston), JM Barrie (Peter Fan fame), Sir Arthur Sullivan and Sir William Gilbert (Gilbert & Sullivan) to be entertained and to entertain.

Daytime Concerts
We preserve the heritage of the island by having a day of Gilbert & Sullivan music on Friday 3rd July followed by two family days on Saturday and Sunday. The family days include four different contemporary music performances from the very best local talent. You can play games for free to win prizes. Games that include a Coconut Shy, Splat the Rat, Ball in Bucket, Football in a Hole and Roller Ball…..or maybe get your face painted!
